Write for Bath Calculator

Bath Calculator publishes practical, well-researched guides for homeowners planning a bathroom remodel. If you have real expertise to share, whether you’re a contractor, designer, tradesperson, or an experienced DIYer, we’d like to hear from you.

This page explains what we publish, the standards every article must meet, our editorial fee, and exactly how to submit.

What we publish

Our readers are homeowners trying to plan, budget, and complete a bathroom project. We look for evergreen articles that help them make a decision or get a job done. Topics that fit well include:

  • Bathroom remodel costs, budgeting, and ways to save
  • Step-by-step DIY projects, such as tiling, vanity installation, or fixture replacement
  • Design and layout ideas for small, family, and primary bathrooms
  • Choosing materials: tile, flooring, countertops, fixtures, and ventilation
  • Hiring and working with contractors, including permits and timelines
  • Accessibility and aging-in-place upgrades
  • Maintenance and repairs, such as leaks, grout, caulk, and mold prevention

Before pitching, read a few of our recent articles to get a feel for our tone: informative, friendly, and focused on advice people can actually use.

Editorial guidelines

  • Length: 1,000 to 2,000 words. Go longer only if the topic truly needs it.
  • Original work only: Articles must be unpublished anywhere else, online or in print, and remain exclusive to Bath Calculator after publication.
  • Useful and specific: Give readers clear steps, real numbers, and practical tips. Share what you’ve learned firsthand wherever you can.
  • Accurate: Back up costs, statistics, and safety or code claims with reputable sources, and link to them.
  • Written for people: Write in plain language. No keyword stuffing, and no unedited AI-generated text. Every submission is reviewed by a human editor.
  • Images: Include only photos you took or have the rights to use, and tell us who should be credited. We can add stock images if needed.
  • Author bio: Include a short bio of two or three sentences and a headshot if you’d like one shown.

We edit every article for clarity, accuracy, length, and style, and we may adjust headlines and formatting to fit the site. You’ll see the final version before it goes live.

Link policy

  • You may include one link in your author bio and one relevant link within the article body.
  • Links must point to a genuine, high-quality page that adds value for readers.
  • Following search engine guidelines, links in contributed articles are marked as sponsored.
  • We don’t accept links to gambling, adult, cannabis, payday lending, or other unrelated or high-risk sites.

Editorial fee

We charge a one-time editorial fee of $45 per published article. The fee covers editing and fact-checking, formatting, image optimization, and publishing on Bath Calculator.

You only pay once your article has been accepted. We’ll send an invoice with the approved draft, and your article is scheduled for publication once payment is received. If for any reason we don’t publish an article you’ve paid for, we’ll refund the fee in full.

How to submit your article

  1. Send a pitch. Use our contact form with the subject “Article Submission.” Include your proposed headline, a short outline or summary, and links to one or two writing samples. If your article is already written, you can include it as a Google Doc link.
  2. We review it. Our editor will reply to let you know whether the topic is a good fit, and may suggest changes to the angle or outline.
  3. Submit your draft. Once your pitch is approved, send the full article as a Google Doc or Word file, along with any images, your bio, and the links you’d like included.
  4. Editing and approval. We edit the article and send it back for your approval along with an invoice for the $45 editorial fee.
  5. Publication. After payment, we schedule your article and send you the live link when it’s published.

Frequently asked questions

Can I submit an article that’s been published elsewhere?

No. We only publish original articles that haven’t appeared anywhere else, including on your own website.

Do I need to be a professional contractor?

No. Experienced DIYers, designers, tradespeople, and industry writers are all welcome. What matters is that your article is accurate, original, and genuinely helpful.

Can I promote my business or products?

You can mention your business in your author bio and include the links described above. The article itself should focus on helping readers, not selling to them. Overly promotional submissions won’t be accepted.

Can I request changes after my article is published?

Yes, for factual corrections or updated information. Contact us with the details and we’ll review the change.
